2 small red dots on shed near cloaca

Hexadeci

Paranoid After Midnight
My hatchling Sherlock finally shed for the first time with me! It went well as far as I can tell, perfect eye caps and tail tip, though I did break the shed when I took it out of the tank. He must have been freshly soaked when he shed judging by the amount of substrate stuck to it. Anyway!

Upon close inspection of the shed in the tail region I discovered a pair of tiny red dots near the cloaca. From searching the forums I've determined this is probably "normal" (correct me if I'm wrong) and not to worry.

Question: Has anyone conclusively determined whether this is indicative either way of gender? Sherlock is unsexed; I only refer to him as male out of arbitrary convenience.

I'm not sure, but I do not think it is a good way to tell gender. My old male anery used to have those in his sheds, but I'm not sure on the snakes I have now. I don't really look for them, I only check eyes and tail. Now that question has me wondering! haha.

Not a good way to tell gender. My female bairds has them too and she is a proven breeder. Both sexes of my corns have them too.
