Wrinkled scales?

I just noticed a few patches of rough, wrinkly scales on Ogu, my fire stripe, when I was handling him. My first assumption is that these showed up because he's about to shed, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't anything more serious (paranoid? who me?). Does this look familiar to anyone?

If it helps, he's about a year old, 110 grams and shed a month ago.

Thanks in advance :)

I think he has just rubbed that part a bit against something rough, don't worry!

My more active corn gets spots like this all the time from climbing on things and under things. It's nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys! He's definitely an active corn, so that explains it.

My corn has a similar looking patch on him, although his runs almost the length of his body-- I asked the vet about it when I took him, and she said that sometimes that happens when it's a little dry or when they have a challenging shed. However she said it's absolutely nothing to worry about :) She said it would go away with the next shed.

Yea I was going to say remaining shed. Can't stress how important it is to inspect your Snakes Shedding for 2 eye caps, missing parts of the shed and that all of the tail came off.

A lot of snakes retain some shedding on the tail and when this happens the shedding that was supposed to come off dry and shrinks. When it shrinks, it will restrict it's blood flow to the tail. The tail will die and fall off anywhere from 1/2" to an 1" depending on where the retaining shed was.

Here are some great videos on the 2 Subjects.

Watched the whole video on the Eye Caps one, he only talks about the caps layering and the snake going blind from it. This shouldn't be your only concern. After just one eye cap retaining, your snake could get a eye infection and left untreated could die.

I like the KISS(Keep It Simple Stupid) method of doing things. So, on bad sheds I do it Nanci's way. Found on the sticky at the top of this section.

I used it on my snow's last shed where he didnt get everything off. works like a charm!

Thanks guys. I had thought retained shed bits at first, but I give all my guys a pretty thorough once over after each shed (especially the tail tips, as my reverse okeetee always has problems shedding his and usually ends up in the washcloth bathtub). I hadn't noticed anything after Ogu's last shed, but I suppose I could have missed something!
