looked like shedding but didn't

my snake hadnt shed in a little while so i knew he was going to soon. i saw that he went dull colored, eyes went kind of glazed over, which is what he normally looks like before he shed. he also wouldn't eat (another indicator he's about to shed) then i woke up and basically overnight he went back to being brighter, eyes aren't glazed, but there is nothing shed. he doesn't have any pieces in the cage or on him. what could this mean??

That's the "clear" stage before the shed. Don't worry. You should see a shed within the next few days.
