Ten days is still nothing to worry about.
Wait another five days, and try feeding her in the cage.

The next steps are trying to slit the pinkie, tuna scenting, anole scenting, and a few other methods, including offering a live pinkie.

Should i try to feed her in her actual tank? Dont want aspen hurting her

I feed ALL of mine in their cages, on the aspen. If it really concerns you, put the mouse on the lid of the deli cup and set in the cage.

K. How long can i keep the f/t pinkie in the cage? Should i defrost another one to leave over night? Or wait 5 days?

I was reaserching on baby corns that dont eat. I heard that if i keep the baby in the small deli cup for few days that it will eat in that deli cup becouse it feels safer in the deli cup then in a bigger tank anyone else know about this?

Yama - I put my snakelings in a small container with the pinkie (which I have thawed in hot tap water, changing the water several times) then close up the container and cover it with a light towel. I do this in the evening. I'll check 1/2 later, and they have always eaten. But, I haven't had one that was a picky eater either, so this may not work for you.

The container is a food one, about 6 inches across and 2 1/2 inches deep. I've melted small holes in it for air.

I really wouldn't worry. Alot of snakes don't eat when they are about to go into the blue, even if they go into the blue several days later. Give her another chance days later. I would not suggest the above. A few days is long enough for a pinkie to rot. Also F/T can last over a year in a fridge.

And wait 5 days! Stress would come, and stressed snakes often refuse eating or regurge.

If you know the snake-let ate 10 days ago, take a deep breath. I know it is scary for us the keepers but that is not really that long even for a very small snake.

Read the TON of information on this site that covers snakes not eating. Make a list of all the things that people have found to help. Pick the ones that you feel able to try easily. Don't try to feed any more often than you would if the snake was eating. Try something different each time until you get the snake to eat, then continue to do that for several feedings before trying to get the snake to eat without the "tricks".

A lot of people have found that snakes will eat after a car ride or a "ride" on the drier.

I feed all mine in their vivs, I put the food in an open deli cup.
Sometimes they need to put in "Jail", aka sealed in a deli cup with the food and lid snapped down. In the dark, overnight, UNdisturbed all night long.
Is it warm enough (85-88 degrees F)?
Anolis scenting, chicken scenting, lamb fat scanting, some of these things work as well.
Put the baby snake in a cloth bag and jog around the blocks a couple times. Then try feeding again.
Try live food. Wash it first.
In the delicup or a brown small paper bag and on top of the dryer...

Might consider some of these ideas as well, here:

What works one year might never work again.

I still wouldn't rule out shedding. How long have you had her? Can you recognize her when she goes into the blue easily? If not, take a pic of the eyes and body.

Okay, so this snake has only been with the OP for five days. There is absolutely no reason to panic here...

Okay, so this snake has only been with the OP for five days. There is absolutely no reason to panic here...I agree, I've had some that ate within that time, but it isn't a reason to panic. Let him settle in, try again in a week.

Personally, I try the first feed the day I've got a new snake, with great success with most taking their first offered feed then settling down to digest. Otherwise I leave them to settle for at least a week with no handling or disturbance at all before even trying to feed them. As Nanci states, no need to panic or IMO to worry about tricks for non-feeders after 1 failed attempt, just offer a hot thawed pink after a week without any pestering the snake and it should feed ok.

Has she been active? Or hiding away? This week. Reheat, put her away in the deli for the night.

Yamahajones
07-02-2012, 09:00 PM
she has been hiding i have not seen her out once. i was told to just let her a lone for about 10 days then try to feed?

Nanci

If you have not seen her out once, it is likely she is blue. So, if she doesn't eat, that is expected and normal.

Being in blue for baby corn does thay last more then ten days?

Yamahajones

Nanci

I feed mine every five days. They usually only miss one feeding, but they can miss two while they are blue. It's always more than a week. 10-12 days usually?

Yamahajones

When I got my baby corn he didnt eat for 6 weeks! That was scary, I tried different tricks every 5 days and the one that worked for me was a warm (not hot) pinky dipped in tuna juice, never missed a feeding since

I know its tough trying to get them to eat. We just had one go without feeding for the last three feedings he finally ate again last night. We warm his pinkie up real good and put it in a toiley paper tube in his enclosure and that worked for us. Hope you get yours eating soon.
