I got myself a D-5100 from Nikon 2 weeks ago and I’m getting hook on those quality pictures... so easy to use!

I just need to get myself a good macro lance and a 70-200 f2.8 with stabilizer.

Anyone can help me on what i should get for both!

What a tease! I thought you were gonna show us some of your snazzy photos! :D

I remember the feeling of using my first DSLR - even though I had almost no clue how to use it, the auto settings were already so much better than my little point and shoot.

Here's some of your options for a good macro lens.

Nikkor AF-S Micro 60mm f/2.8G ED - $549.00
Nikkor Micro 105mm f2.8 VR - $899.00
Sigma AF 105mm f/2.8 EX DG macro - discontinued
Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS Macro - $769.00
Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 SP Di macro - $449.00

Generally all macro lenses are sharp so no worries there. For the money I'd get the Tamron unless you need/want image stabilization.

I was just kidding with you, but I'd love to see some whenever you're all unpacked and moved in. :)

I have the Nikon D3200 ....LOVE IT! Not nearly as much of a beauty as yours, but I'm a newbie to photography, so I find the 3200 perfect as a starter!

I'm having a hard time resizing them to upload here? Any advise?

I believe photobucket auto-resizes pics to be uploaded...

The 70-200 f/2.8 is a beast of a lens. It's big and heavy....and I'm not sure that you'd find much use for it if you're planning on snake photography. Otherwise it's a fantastically sharp and fast lens for action/sports photography....or pretty much anything else.

I can recommend the 105mm Nikon Macro....but only for hatchlings. If you want a macro lens for adults you'd need to think about the 60mm or drop down to something like a 50mm or 35mm prime.

A major new Nikon US rebate program will be introduced this Saturday at midnight. I do not have all the details yet, but many lenses (including some of the Nikon's best selling glass) will be up to several hundred dollars off. You will not be required to buy a body in order to qualify for the new rebates.

I have the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS Macro - $769.00 and I bought it from B&H photo for $329. It was used mind you, but it came in pristine condition and it's still pristine to this day. Definitely one of my favorites, and it's so versatile. Works wonders as a portrait lens.
