OK, I don't have a lot of (uh, any!) snake lovers in my "real" life to share these stories with, so you all have to read them. ha ha ha!
Last night was feeding night for Ms. Ala. Usually my son does the honors as she's nominally his snake (but we all know she's my baby!). My daughter never really minds, and only half the time is even interested in the snake.
Last night, my son was busy with an all-important video game and couldn't be bothered. So, I asked my daughter if she wanted to do it. She did. Now, Ala is a great eater, and doesn't really require the zombie dance, but we do it just for the fun of it.
So, I get the fuzzy all warm and have it on a paper towel with the feeding tongs on the guest bed (don't tell my guests this!). I get Ala out and put her in her rubbermaid feeding bin. My daughter is only 4 so her fine motor skills are still developing. So, while she's struggling to pick up the fuzzy with the tongs, Ala proceeds to crawl out of the feeding bin. I started to grab her, but she looked at my hand coming toward her like it might be dinner, and I totally wussed out. Instead, I go to try to help my daughter with the tongs, but Ala was faster than the both of us, and just helped herself to the fuzzy. ....Of course that would have been fine, except that my 4 year old is now crying her eyes out because she didn't get to feed the snake. Ugh!
Kids and critters! Not even is a simple feeding is boring with this mix!
