I was wondering do snakes close their eyes when they sleep??
my snake lay still for half and hour with out moving...was he asleep???:p

Snakes have no eyelids, so they don't close their eyes. Look through the Behavior forum and find my thread Taking a snooze.

....

thank you for replying...
i find that a bit scary myslef...eg) my friend sleeps with her eyes open too, but she didnt tell me so when i slept over at her house i got the shook of my life . I THOUGHT SHE WAS DEAD!!
anyway...back to snakes.....can they see while they are asleep???
like if u wave ur hand in front of them will they see it???

 I have no idea:confused: I don't have a snake myself, but the corn in my biology class never seemed to respond.

i think the no eyelids thing is a safety precaution.. they awaken if you move your hand around so therefore i thought that in the wild since they are vulnerable while they sleep any movement awakens them. would make sense. just my 2 cents.
