help..feeding!

what/when should i feed my corn snake now...hes 10 months old...and i am currently feeding him 1 pinkie..which i was told was not enough!
how do u know when u move corn snakes on to the higher level of feeding??
i heard u can check by their poo but is there any way else u can do it??

hi ya 10 months shold be on fuzzies or fluffs,and i feed after its poohed, about 3/4 days,
if its white an hard its p..s
if its dark its poh
use rodent thats slighltly bigger than the body mid way down

but i would suguest one a week ,for now you dont want to rush it .if he eats it less than a min ,and the bulge is not to big

Length? If he's 1 ft, pinkies would be right - but only 1 ft is very small for a 10 month old snake. Hatchlings are 1 ft.

People aren't very good at measuring length by sight. :)

yeah relaise 12in sent priavate mess to feed 2 /4 pinkis aweek
its common in some shops to feed the min,so they stay small and sellable in uk

Sorry but when you bought the snake from the "shop" did they not tell you when to increase the food item,and or size,
there a good book other members have mentioned,in other post and people and me have tried to help you, he is NOT A SMALL CORN JUST NOT FED PROPERLY

just buy , burrow, the book , increase his food like you have done,3-4 weeek give him 1extra,

Hey Guys,
The rule of thumb is that the food should be 1 and a 1/2 times the size of the thickest part of the snake. So a little thicker than the snake.
If you would like to feed more that 1 pinky, fuzzy,hopper or adult mouse feed them all at the same time. so feed the snake 2 fuzzies at the same time not one every 3 days. I think it takes about 3-4 days for the snake to digest thier food so if you feed them every 3 days they will always have to work at digesting food. Thats not good.
We need to remember that in nature the snakes eat only they can find food. They sometimes eat every day and sometimes they go for weeks without food.
It is not healthy to power feed your snake. That is to get them to grow as quickly as possibly. They may just get fat. I think it also shortens the lifespan.

I have also heard it shortans they lifespan. Also think about it. If your snake is always digesting you will never get to handle it. Well you shoulnt anyways. It is bad for the snakey tummy. They all you wind up having is a fat short lived shake who does nothing but eat and sleep with out any intrest in being with you.
