Very pretty. The markings on his head are really cool. Is that a type of corn? Please educate me!

Beautiful snake. Do you have a group of these or just the one? I love porphs and was too late at getting some in from the US before they were sold out and winter came...

This is a Oreocryptophis porphyraceus pulchra or Yunnan mountain ratsnake, an Asian ratsnake, there are four subspecies in captivity.

We have 1.2 O. p. coxi, 1.1 O. p. laticincta and just got this one male pulchra, hoping to eventually get a female one and a pair of the last subspecies, vaillanti. Those last are especially hard to find.

He is so hard to get good pictures of! Realized only after I'd taken these that the other lens had been on the camera and the settings were still for that one, not the one I took them with. Oh, well, kind of shows how much he's changing, anyway. Taken 3/24/15 indoors with flash.

I'm so envious! I've been looking to snag a Oreocryptophis porphyraceus for quite some time, though they do command a pretty penny. It's interesting how his saddles have changed since you've gotten him. Any plans for breeding?

Hopefully we will be breeding him in the future. I've got a line on a female, from a clutch a friend hatched recently. Not sure yet if a female was produced in that clutch or not though. We also have a not quite grown pair of O. p. laticincta and a trio of coxi that we are currently breeding. Just had 8 coxi babies hatch from them in the last 3 days.

Oh hey, I just saw your location! Like I said, we'll have a few coxi available in a month or so and shipping to SLC is only $28.
