sick babies

My new foster babies are 3g and 5g, born Sept. 9, never eaten. The bigger one ate half a pinkie today.

My UTHs have been ordered, but I won't have them until Friday, so in the meantime I'm using a basking lamp which has the temp up to 85 degrees. They are separated and will stay that way. Do you think I should keep the lamp on at night or turn it off? I'm just not sure since they're so sick.

I did a search and I found that if your house gets cold It would be best to keep it on.
I guess constant light can be stressful but cold can be harmful.
There are probably some more experienced memebers who can elaborate on this..

Without a question, warm and bright is better than cold. If a baby in the state of yours throws up, it's a goner.

Thanks guys, I raised the light a few inches overnight since I wasn't sure, but put it back down this morning, so it was lifted about 9hrs. The smaller one has moved over to the cooler side by the water and the one that ate is still in the hide where she's been since eating, unless she came out when I was asleep. I assume she's just sleeping off her half pinkie. ;)
