Hi. Im a fairly new snake owner and have become worried about my corn snake. I just found the 3rd regurgitation my snake has had since Ive had him.
I'll try to provide as much info as I can so might be a lengthy read. Ive had the snake for just under 6 months, and got him from Petco. When I got him, he weighed 6.5g. He's in a 20g tank with a UTH regulated by a thermostat, and the temps in his tank have always been normal, 83-85 on the warm side and room temp on the cool side. He's on aspen bedding because its easier to clean than eco earth I've found.
In terms of feeding I've been following the munson plan based off the snake's weight since I got him, and only F/T mice. About 3 months ago he regurgitated a meal, and I took much caution in handling it. 10 days no handling and offered smaller mice after that. Shortly after that he again regurgitated. At this point I was very concerned so took the snake to the vet, after giving him 10 days to settle again. The vet told me the snake looked ok, to double check all the husbandry. We decided not to do a fecal test for parasites because of financial stress. We also concluded that the snake was too close to a shed to have been fed and that probably caused it. Since then he has been eating fairly regularly and successfully. Ive been feeding every 5-6 days, and the weight according to the munson plan.
Like I said, today I woke up to find another mouse regurgitated. The snake is currently 20.7 g. The mouse he ate was 3.1 g, which he has eaten before. The temps are all correct, and he has shown no sign of being in blue whatsoever. So Im really just puzzled. Should I test the snake for any parasites/diseases? Im also concerned about his growth, it seems very minimal to me but being my first snake I really don't know what to expect. What I do know is that he can't keep regurgitating without damaging his health so any tips or help would really really mean a lot.
