Anyone else out there agree that owning snakes can be great therapy? I have a few conditions that will not be going away and I find that owning snakes actually helps me with my health issues. I owned 6 beautiful snakes before when I was young, and unfortunately the last one I acquired had crypto. Though I did all I could, eventually my entire collection succumbed to it, I was heartbroken and guilt ridden. That and my growing health concerns left me thinking I could never be a good snake mom. Times have changed and my husband is so encouraging and supportive. He bought me a pretty classic corn in November 2015 and that sparked a passion in me. Keeping snakes makes me schedule aware, and gives me reasons to get motivated. And we all know you can't kid yourself with just one, so I have four now. We are picking up two lovely corns in the spring and we just got this beautiful and surprisingly chill Honduran hypo tangerine milk! She is so spoiled she gets her own room ;) :D Her name is Button's. We call her "Boop" for short lol! It's more of a sound than a name :P

it's good for the snakes too.

No kidding.

A snake in the wild has an average life span of about 8 years. A captive pet snake (or Zoo animal) can expect to live almost twice as long, and some even longer than that.

That is true! I certainly hope to have mine around for a long time. In truth, us snake owners probably pamper our babies more than we ought. We pamper ourselves by getting them :D

First, thanks for the beautiful pictures.

Second, heck yeah, snakes are therapeutic! My snabies literally fill my heart with joy. I love watching them. I love them crawling on me, especially when I can feel their little tongues flicking. I love it when they curl around my hands. I love how they are designed perfectly to be snakes, so much so that I don't see the lack of limbs as a lack. They are more intelligent and inquisitive than I think the world in general gives them credit for. And earning the trust of a snake is very fulfilling. Yeah, totally awesome and lovable pets.

Thanks :) and everything you said rings true. I could say I love them just as much as my cats and dog :)

First of all, Button's is adorable!

And I totally agree, to me the feeling of a snake slithering on my skin is very comforting.

When I was in elementary school, my teacher had cornsnakes as classroom pets (actually what inspired me to want one). We each had a day of the week where we got to hang out in the "reading corner" reading books with one of the snakes - it is very cool!

Her face sure brightens my day :)

Classroom pets were always the best! We never had snakes in classrooms...so I took wild garters home on the school bus in my gym bag lol! Mom wasn't thrilled and neither was the bus driver.
