Lost tip of tail

My son recently adopted a 6 month old CS. I noticed the tip of the tail had remaining shed on it. Probably 1/4". I was advised to take a moist rag and let him slither through it to help remove the shed. I did and as he slithered through the rag the shed came off however it looks like a small piece of his tail came off as well. Very small 1/8". The only reason I knew was when hit tail touched the rag it left a small spot of blood. He didn't seem to mind and his behavior is normal. Is there anything I should do?

Keep him clean and dry. Keep an eye on it. This is not uncommon and should cause no long term problems.

The substrate is aspen. Should I remove it and put paper down?

It won't hurt a thing, and it's definitely staying on the safe side. Plain white paper toweling works very well and will allow you to quickly see any bleeding. The tail tip should heal very quickly.

P.S. Welcome! Glad you are here.
