Down the Hatch Backwards! Problem?

My 16 year old snake just consumed his mouse (F/T) breech or tail first.

Is this going to be a problem? He's never done this before to my knowledge.

Thanks for the help.

I personally have never had a problem with any of my snakes eating their food backwards. I have heard that it may cause them to regurgitate. I never experienced it, so I can't say if that's true or not.

I have never witnessed a regurge due to swallowing a mouse/rat butt first. It is just more difficult for the snake to get by the hips on large prey.

Shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you all for the reassurance. He's a big snake, around 700 grams and the mouse was a normal sized adult/large mouse.

My 750 gram corn ate an adult live mouse tail-first about a year ago and no problem! The only time he's done that since I've had him (2 years).

That's good to hear, Safire! So far, mine has kept it down. It's been over 24 hours and he's acting normally.
