indent/hole on head scale

I was feeding my snake today and snapping a few photos and I noticed he has a little indent on one of his head scales that's definitely new. He shed less than a week ago, and I'm wondering if maybe the indent is from him pressing his head against something right after he shed and now this imprint is left behind? I'm kind of baffled. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

That is most unusual. It reminded me of what is called a "third eye," or parietal eye, in lizards. From what I've read, snakes may have a pair of what they call parietal foramina, which I assume are small indentations that are cover by bone as a snake matures. Makes for good reading and may disappear with the next shed.
