My ultramel baby just died today!!!!! WAAAAHHHHH!!!! I have no clue as to what was wrong. In his last 24 hrs I noticed he was lathargic and when I took him out to see what was wrong, his belly was flat but had a bulge near his middle. Yesterday he was fine, now he's buried under a tree!

Oh, I''m really sorry to hear about that. It's hard to diagnose what went wrong from a short desctiption but it sounds like it could have been impaction. This happens if the gut gets blocked and stops any flow of food/poop through the snake. Did you notice there'd been no poops in the viv?

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, it must be heartbreaking.

I'm so sorry! It would be so hard to lose a little one like that, and so suddenly too. :(

I noticed poops in his cage but since he ate his last pinky, I noticed his belly was a little swollen until the day he died. Was there soemthing that I could have done to help him???

It is heartbreaking because he was my first snake ever.

Did you feed him in his regular container (on substrate) or were you feeding him in a separate encloser that was free of all materials that could have been ingested along with the mice?

I fed him in his cage and I assume some substrate was consumed as well as the food item. Was there really any way to stop this??

If you feed them in separate containers, on paper towels for instance, you can avoid potential substrate ingestion. Its the safest way. :(
