How to feed snake 2 or more mice?

High all,

Been reading some great posts -- it's so helpful!!!

We have a 7 month old Sunglow. So far we have been feeding 1 live fuzzy every 7-9 days. Is this frequent enough?

Should we begin feeding our snake 2 fuzzies? Any suggestions on how to feed more than 1 prey item?

One last question, are we better-off feeding 2 fuzzies, or should we start feeding snake larger prey (adult mice?)?

Well it depends on how big your snake is, but I would try offering the extra fuzzie just like you normally would, after he gets the first one completely down. He will let you know if he is hungry enough to eat 2 fuzzies :)

Also I think it is easier for them to digest 2 smaller prey items than one big one, so that would probably be the way I'd go. Depending on his size a grown mouse might be too big anyway (aim for something not too much bigger than your snake is at it's widest point).

Just a little note - after your snake has the first fuzzy down, you should put the second one in within 15 minutes. You'll probably notice that the snake wanders around looking for more food after eating the one. Just don't wait more than 15 minutes, because they go out of feeding mode if they don't find a second meal by that time.

I just put both food items in there at once. Just in case you haven't thought about it, I suggest feeding frozen/thawed or prekilled mice instead of live. A dead mouse never bit or killed a snake, whereas live ones sure have. They cause lots of problems with bites becoming infected, blindness from a bite to an eye, etc. Some people say that in the wild, snakes eat live mice with no problems. This is not true, we just don't see the snakes that die or are blinded from it. And a cornered mouse is not a pleasant creature to be around. In the wild, the mouse can run, in a tank he cannot, so he will turn and fight. Just my opinion, if you really have it in your heart that you have to feed live for some reason, you can ignore it.
