Ahh jeez

How horrible to loose him so suddenly...I wish I knew what to say. It is so hard to loose a pet - they become such a part of our life.

If you would like to find out why he died, I'd suggest taking him to a herp vet to see if they can figure it out. I don't think a food item a bit bigger than normal would do it, but I don't have a lot of experience with that. I hope some of the other folks chime in and offer some suggestions.

Take care and let us know if you find out what happened.

I've never heard of a snake expiring like that from a large food item. Most of the time, the item isn't nearly as big as people think, and they will regurge it if it is. Sounds like something else entirely. Very sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure it's devastating to you. If you do decide to get a necropsy, make sure you refridgerate, and not freeze your snake to keep the tissue undamaged. Good luck to you.

Aw man Im really sorry to hear about your buddy. I know it doesn't help but I can empathize, my first baby died after I only had it a few weeks. Like the others said if you find out what was wrong let us know.

I feel terrible for you. I'm sorry. We haven't had Gus very long but my son and I would be heartbroke if anything happened to him. I feel for you. :awcrap:

he regurgitated his food 4 days before he ate it...i shouldnt have give him something that big i should have known better, wish i could go back to that day.

Hind sight is always 20-20. Most likely you should have waited at least 10 days before trying to feed again, and I definitely would have fed a smaller food size. However, I think the regurge was just the start of something more serious. Normally, if you feed too soon, you'd just end up with another regurge, not something like this. I wouldn't blame yourself. I still think it was something more serious, and had nothing to do with the food at all.

P.S. Joe: That was a lovely link. It made me cry because it reminded me of my dog, but it gives a great deal of hope. It was very nice of you to put it there.
