first weigh in, normal weights???

Well I got my first digital scale today so I just finished my snake's first weigh in. My little blood female born in august 05 weighed in at 28 grams. My May 2004 anery stripe came in at 144 grams, and my 2004 petstore snow came in at 150 grams. my blood is on fuzzies and my 2004's are on hoppers, about to go up to weanlings/small adults. What do you guys think of these weights? do they seem a little on the small side to you? Anything I can do to make sure they are getting enough nutrition, vitamins perhaps?

Thanks!

The weights sound ok, but they could probably grow faster, too... if you wanted them to. :)

Just a side note: I got a couple of scales that were pretty bad, and they were fine up to 40 or so grams but were off by hundreds of grams by the time they got to 300+ grams. They were telling me a 600 gram adult weighed 180, LOL. As a result I'm paranoid about any new scale until I've checked it. ;) You can check the accuracy of your scale pretty easily, nickels weigh 5 grams each.

Yup...what he said!

My old scales were about 20% off and telling me my snakes were lighter than they were (I think they were designed by a woman!)

My new digital ones are wonderful though.

good idea to try the nickel. I just tried it and it said the nickel weighed 5.1 grams, so pretty close. I'm glad the weights sound ok to you guys. I don't know why I thought they would weigh more. Isn't there some vitamin stuff you can put on the mouse to give the snakes a little boost? Repti- sumthin? Lol, just wondering, thanks guys!

Think the weight really depends on the snake too. My 03 was over 100g less than my 04 for a few months.. now hes around 25g less, but my 04 lost some weight.

My 03's weight 185g (female) and 311g (male), and my 04 is around 335g (need to take him in and weigh him once his scale is better).

28 grams sounds very small to me, but they are all different. It just depends on how they look. If they are feeding fine, look healthy, than the weight is good for them.

new weigh in

yea, i thought 28 grams seemed kinda small as well. Well I fed her a fuzzy after the first weigh in, waited 3 days so there was absolutely no lump, and then weighed her again tonight. 55 grams! Now, I can't imagine that she would have gained all that weight from one fuzzy, so I'm to guess that my scale was being a little wacky. Maybe the tare feature is off. anyway, 55 grams sounds a lot better for a late 2005 baby, what do you guys think?

Can they be accurately weighed in like, a fruit/veggie scale at a store? hahaha Just wondering...
