how old do they have to be

im just starting i dont know if its male or female i think its bout 5months old eating very good but was wondering when & how please help

For breeding usually the females 3rd year.

Or OVER 36 inches long.
Males can bred a bit sooner but not a 5 months. A year or so, at least. Two is better.

If you're talking about breeding then it's a matter of size, not really age. Females, in many people's opinions, need to be at least three feet long and a good weight. The size of the males isn't as important but they shouldn't really be <i>too</i> much shorter. And, although it's size and not age, I think that it's best to wait until the snakes a couple of years old before breeding.
