Normal?

Is it common for a corn to have a "plain" stripe going down their belly? The ventral color and pattern are completely normal (stark black & white contrast) for the first ...1/3 of his length, but the last half or so the checkers don't extend very far onto his stomach, and the background has more red than I would expect for a 13-inch hatchling. (but then again, I don't have all that many to compare to)

Kinda looks.........

Like there may be Bloodred in it's heritage. I've seen snakes "het" for Bloodred that show varying degrees of checkering on the ventral surface. It always seems to split in the middle and gravitate towards the sides.

I agree. The belly pattern is indicative of bloodred heritage, and the increased red coloring is also sometimes an artifact of the same. :)

I have some more pictures of him/her

This was actually found outside...looks considerably different (darker) from other corns from the area. Possibly an escapee? (or offspring from an escapee?)
