Weird Lump

I recently noticed, while feeding my Normal adult female on Thursday, that she has an odd lump near her cloaca.
I asked my vet about it over the phone since I couldn't get out of work early enough yesterday. He thought it was an impaction, which is what I originally thought, but today there was a defecation in her tub. It looked completely normal, and the lump is still there.
She also ate that meal on Thursday same as always, with gusto.

Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this before?

The vet is closed for the weekend, so I am stuck until Monday. The nearest Emergency vet is 4 hours away and a minimum of $250 for exotics (which they consider most if not all snakes to be :shrugs: ). She is acting completely normal, and doesn't seem to notice the lump, so I am not terrably worried. I also am not sure it justifies an emergency visit if she both ate and defecated normally.

I realize the photos are HUGE, but I wanted to blow them up so that the lump was more defined.

Any takers on this one?

I am far from an expert and my post will probably show that, but if she deficated normally, is there any way that it could be an egg? I could see an egg possibly getting bound before it emptied into the cloaca. I am no expert on snake reproductive anatomy so take the theory for what it is worth. (not much lol)

Or maybe it's just fat ;)

Any takers on this one? That is a fat pad. It will probably always be there now, but cutting back on her food can make it a bit smaller.

OK... I learn something new again...

Are there any good web sites that talk about its causes and etc. I just googled and googled and then googled some more and found little to nothing.

Yeah the causes are too much food, and not enough exercise.

Here's one thread that shows a pic or two.

And this one is pretty extreme:

Thanks for the helpful links. I was reading about fat deposits and one site said that snakes have fat in the third of their abdomen toward the tail. I figured if it was just a matter of eating too much etc, that entire area should be bulged.

That's why I was wondering if there may be any other underlying physiological problems. It reminds me of my brothers car accident which resulted in his elbow growing an extra 5" of bone or so.

Just my curious nature wanting answers. Thanks for the help. And yes, that extreme case was extreme. That thing was huge!!!

Thank you very much everyone!
Thanks Terri for the links. I hit a wall with the searches, but I think it was because I didn't know I was searching for "fat deposits".
Very interesting, and at least I know it's nothing serious.

I guess she is overweight. I weighed her when she arrived from Serpenco a few months ago. I had bought her from Rich's adult sale. She was 325g then and I just weigher her in at 430g a few minutes ago.

Thank again for the help everyone! :wavey:
