As I've probably mentioned too many times for a newcomer, we recently lost a 5 yr old female corn who was dear to my heart. I asked this question on a corn list that I belong to and never did get an answer.
When *do* you worry about an adult who goes off food??? This was what appeared to be a very healthy female. Nothing in her set-up had changed, so I couldn't relate it to husbandry issues. She always seemed to go off in the spring if she was near my male, but would resume after a couple of months at about the same time he did.
She would eat before, during or after a shed right on schedule. Not a picky eater in the least. It was fun to watch her eat as she would "kill" her already dead prey with vigor. While the vet has said he didn't feel there was anything he could have done, I have to wonder if I had gotten her in earlier if that would have been the case... so when do you worry?
Also, what protentially could cause extreme anemia in a corn?
