Not feeding and soaking in water???

I bought a corn snake last week. I fed him ONE time he ate good. It has been 7 days since that and he has not eaten again yet. He is also soaking the lower 3/4ths of his body, why?? Is he OK?? HELP ME!!

Most likely getting ready to shed, he should be fine. Make sure you check out teh FAQ sections for the site, and you may want to look into buying a cornsnake book.

Sometimes soaking a lot can be a symptom of mites.

Are his eyes cloudy, or his colours dull? If so he is shedding.

The other thing I would look for is mites. Snakes with mites will sometimes not feed, and will often sit in their water bowls. I only found out my python had mites because I caught him soaking. To check, remove your snake from the water and look inside the bowl. You will see tiny black dots in the bowl where the snake has drowned the mites.

Just relax. You said that you've only had him for a week. and he didnt eat. maybe he wasn't hungry, or a bit stressed. snakes can go a long time without eating... How often are you feeding him?

and snakes do soak every once and a while. its normal.

as for mites - my ball python used to have mites. Its not that big of a deal... just a pain. However it can be a problem if you dont get rid of them, I recommend provent a mite... if he actually have mites.

Usually snakes with mites will immerse completely in the water, not just a part of them. I'm more inclined to think shed. Double check your temps to make sure it's not too hot either.
