Solution to no Pinkies in town

My mice haven't been breeding as fast as I would like, and the pet store had no pinkies so I had to find a solution so Deliah could eat this week. I came up with the soultion of cutting off an older mouse's leg to feed Deliah and feed the remainder of the mouse to Spur. It worked perfectly, after a little sniffing around Deliah took down the leg, leaving a nice, very round bump in her tummy and Spur took down the butchered mouse without hesitation. So if you're ever short on pinkies, a short term solution is to butcher a larger mouse into pinkie size pieces. I wouldn't reccommend this as a permenant solution though due to the leg only having meat and bone, with little to no fat and no internal organs. It should tide her over until our mice have their babies.
Any comments or questions are welcome.

Does your store get them only on certain days? I know mine does, ask. If you don't have a lot look on websites and buy like 15 pinkies and 15 fuzzys. So you know you have enough for a while. Sorry if this does help :sobstory:
When I was out and had to wait until I could get more pinks I halved or quartered fuzzies, not so bad while frozen, but "blegh" :-puke01: Awfully messy once they thaw.
I really expected at least SOME of them to refuse, but nope, they were gobbled up just the same.

I've got 4 female mice that I'm pretty sure are pregnant, it's just that the pinkies haven't been born yet, and the last litter I didn't freeze any of the pinkies like I usually do. My pet store only gets in adults, but they often have pregnant females that give birth due to their supplier's habit of putting all the mice together in the shipping boxes.
Silentlore - I considered doing that but decided to try the leg first seeing as I prefered to avoid the mess. If I have no pinkies by next week I'll have to split a rat pinkie or another similar item so that Delia gets her full nutrition.
