feeding birds

Being a falconer I have quail and day old chicks around all the time. Would it be advisable to cut a skinned quail breast and feed it to my corns? How about DOCs? One thing about DOCs is that it smells ok going in but real bad when it comes out :grin01:

well

I don't know about the day old chicks but i do know that the snakes need a whole prey item to gain all the nutrients they need so giving them pieces of breast meet will cause nutrition problems.

If you can get it to eat quail breast, go for it. But remember that its not a full source of nutrients, and you need to feed mice/rats also. Chicks can be fed too, but have the same rules that apply with the quail.

Personally, I will rarely feed birds because I don't like the messy poo, yuck.

I fed mine a quail once. It was about the size of an adult mouse. He has since flat-out refused to eat another after that. He likes his rodents.

But he hasn't experienced any problems from eating it. They will eat birds in the wild. No biggy.
