Warning: This post contains mildly disgusting images!!

So I don't know who knows what's happening with my snakes right now, but here's an overview. Aurora has now refused her 5th week of food (this thread is not about Aurora!), and my second female, Raya regurged about a month ago. She refused her food yesterday, and..

Now she left this in her cage:

this is the actual color of the thing

this is NOT the actual color!! (over-exposed by flash)

I'm 99% sure it's a regurge, the only thing is it's only the spine and tail that was regurged and they were regurged 10 days after eating!!

4 days ago or so she left this poop, which also looks a bit undigested or under-digested.

Any ideas and advice on Raya would be great!!

I think that this is all a sign that she is having a hard time digesting. It is hard to tell if she is sick, as she has never moved around a lot while I have had her, always sitting in her cold side hide till everyone's asleep, but I don't think she is. she seems okay, so i think she is missing some of the Bactria she is supposed to have in her gut or something like that. i will try to get some nutribac (where do I get this) as soon as possible, as well as some grapefruit extract. I think, as long as she eats tonight, and I'm still planning on feeding her because of the minute scale of this regurge, then I think she is still okay to breed this weekend.

Am I correct on any of this? Again, advice and pointers would be great! Thanks in advance.

Thank you. I'll order that tonight.

And there's more. She seems to have regurgitated more into her water. There's no way of knowing when that happened, but I'd guess within a day or two at the most. It still looks like fur and that kind of stuff, but because of this I think I'm gonna hold of feeding till I can get some nutribac. If anyone thinks I should feed her sooner then please say so, because she was going to bred at the end of this week. I don't think that will be happening at this rate, but we'll see. I don't know what to think about this sort-of-can-eat thing she's doing.

This regurge looks to be about a quarter the size of the mouse, at most.

If in fact it is a regurge, I wouldn't try feeding her again today. I'd hold off for the 10 day period of regurges. I also wouldn't be thinking of breeding her until your sure she's able to eat without regurging. Hope all goes well with her. Good Luck!

Yes, after finding the second regurge in her water I have decided to hold of with breeding and feeding.

I'm really disappointed, as we had just gotten her to eat her 4th (or maybe 3rd I'm not sure) meal after her last regurge, and then it starts all over again.

I don't know what's going on with her, holding food down for so long but having such a hard time digesting. Well hopefully the grapefruit extract and Nutribac will help. Would you advise taking her to the vet because she had a regurge 4 or 5 weeks ago and another now?

Weird isn't it for a snake to start having problems for no apparent reason. I take it you keep Raya in the exact same conditions as the rest of your corns?

Have you changed anything at all in the room with your snakes in? perhaps ambient room temperatures?

Maybe her shyness is stoping her from thermoregulating properly. If she chills on the cold side permanently after a feed then maybe she won't access adequate temperatures for other reasons.

Have you tried switching the UTH/heating device of your viv around? This way you could tell whether its the cold temps she wants, or whether theres some reason your snake won't stay on the warm side. One reason for this may be because of an inadequate hide, or that the opening of this hide is positioned so as to make your corn feel unsafe when inside.

Good luck

Lovely pictures by the way :eek1:

Yeah, I think your exactly right. I got Raya 2 and a half months ago from someone i think is a great breeder. She had apperantly never had problems prior to my acuiring her. She is kept just as my other snakes, so that's not the problem. Three snakes are kept in my room and one is in the study next to my roiom. I try to keep the ambient temp above 73 or so, but that's not to easy considering that our thermostat (for the whole house) is kind of messed up. The o0ther thing is the heat from the vent in my room makes the top 4 feet or so of the room 80 degrees and the rest stays at 72 or so. If she is stay ing on the cold side that could be a serious problem.

I'm going to add a heat lamp over the cage for her and rearange the cage a little. Here is a picture of the warm side:

and one of the cold side:

I would feel more secure under all that foliage too. The warm side hide had been rotated after this picture was taken in january so that the door now faces toward the back wall. I will try changing the set up and feed her in 8-10 days. Thanks.
