Hey,

I always put my Corn and Rainbow in a seperate tub to feed...then lift the tub over to the tank so she/he can go back in his/herself. Now they are too big for the small tub so I feed them in a small plastic tank after it's gone down I pick them up by holding in front of and behind the buldge in their stomach as to not unsettle the food. I don't wait around either it's a quick pick up and place back home.

Hope that helps a bit.

The good majority of us feed outside the tank unless there is some sort of substrate that won't be ingested, even then you should be very careful.
Since you only have one snake feeding outside the tank would be best.

Right now my snake is small so I feed her in a 2 gallon kritter keeper. I take her out of her home and get the mouse out to thaw and leave it in hot water. I use this time to get some handling in. When the food is thawed (squishy) I put her in her feeding container and feed her.
I then let her digest a little bit and also get the feeding urge out of her so she doesn't bite me when I lift the lid. So this gives me time to go clean out any poops check her water, make sure the tempature probes are fine etc.

Then in about 15-20 minutes I go back and gently scoop her up and place her back in her home.

Glad to hear it went well!

Ross: I actually almost never watch them eat... I just figure they deserve some privacy! :grin01:

Probably lol...if they could speak they would most likely tell me where to go!... I didn't watch my rainbow last time he took too long...I have a very greedy corn though and she wolfs them down. :licklips:

Just wondering, being nosey and all. Since you have a larger snake and this is your first feeding I was curious as to what size prey item you were giving your snake.

What is a "fluffy" ?
If your snake is about 2.5ft long it should be on at LEAST hoppers or weaned mice I would feel.

oh right im just going off what the pet shop was feeding her. im not saying your wrong, far from it, like i said i presumed that if the pet shop was feeding her fluffies then fluffies were ok for it

Well I still don't know what a "fluffy" is, I guess maybe it's a fuzzie?
If that's the case you either have a reaaaaly underweight corn if fuzzies are appropriate for an animal over 2ft or it's being reeaaaaly underfed.

This is almost like the feeding chart bible that we go by around here:

well, I Assume fluffies Are hoppers :) at 2.5 feet long she should be eating about 2 of those every 5-7 days. My 5 month old is about that size and that is what I am feedering her every 5 days... small hoppers.

See this is what always confuses me cause all the snakes are different :grin01:
My snake is only 27 inches and she's started weanlings.

Yeah she's beautiful, but I think the dark grey one you are referring to is an Anerythristic. :)
