Funny Bump (Pics Included)

My buddy Esteban has had a bump on the side of his body near his tail for as long as I can remember (he's an '05). The bump has grown in proportion with him and he's always been happy and active, so I never thought much of it. It might just be because his whole body has grown bigger, but I notice it a lot more. It's actually difficult to see unless he bends just right which made these pictures really hard to take. Recently I found two similar bumps further up the body that are barely visible had I not been inspecting him obsessively. Should I be worried? The bump itself is smooth and seems soft to the touch. Are tumors common in corns? Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Usually those sort of lumps are fatty depositis... I have seen overweight males that have rows of those bumps down their sides near the vent. Overweight females can develop "hips" too.

Thats the only thing I can suggest, and if indeed it is that then there should be nothing to worry about. Unless you see his health deteriorating then he should be just fine and a vet visit should not be in order. How often are you feeding him and what size prey are you offering?

I am thinking about the same thing as Tula.... down near the tail may be more like fatty deposits.... but the other little tiny bumps that appear "when he moves just right" may be a broken rob or something that healed abit odd. :shrugs:

I have got the same thing with a male of mine. But then far-far worse. I thought it was fat to. So i put him on a diet. The snake slowly slimmed down but the bumps kept increasing. So i visisted a vet and he thought water deposits. He injected some stuff (Don't know what, but i believe it's on the bill i still have somewhere)

After a while it got even worse. I visited another vet. Specialised in herps. She didn't know what it was but she saw it something occuring more and more often with corns. She said nothing was to be done that she new of. :shrugs: Snake is still doing great but kinnda misformed by now :awcrap:

I'll post a pic soon.

Yip, those definitely look like Fat Lumps to me.
One of my males has 5 for about 5 years now.
He is perfectly healthy, active, has the appetite of a pig and still breeds successfully every year.
Nothing can be done I'm afraid to say. This condition is more often
found in males than females.
To be on the safe side and to keep yourself happy monitor him for activity, health and appetite.

Ciao

Wow. Thanks for the replies. I never thought it might be his weight, but that makes me feel better - at least sort of. I feed him a weanling mouse (about a 3-inch body) once a week. Lately I'd even wondered if his prey should be larger since he downs them readily and he is "thicker" than they are now. He's always loved eating. Do you think he looks chubby? It doesn't seem like a broken rib (of course how the hell would I know what that would look like!), but he does like to climb in his viv and he falls alot so it's a possibility. I certainly don't mind his "imperfections" as long as they aren't dangerous, so I'll try keeping an eye on his food intake and getting him out and about more. Hopefully he's healthy otherwise.

Here's two more "lower third" pictures of Esteban. Tell me if you think he looks like a fatty. Thanks guys!
