Scratch Marks

My corn has had these scratch marks on his body since I got him. I thought it would eventually fade after a few shades but it hasn't...So I guess it's really some sort of discoloration that won't go away at this point (?) What you guys think?

It is possible that it could be scar tissue. Or if the snake is rubbing against the walls or lid of it's cage, it could have 'scratched' several scales. A picture of the damage would make it easier to tell. (I see you tried to attach one already.)

I have snakes that have scales and partial scales without color in them for both of the reasons I've mentioned already.

Example of scar tissue:

The scarring is around the outside of the wound, and on the tip of his nose where his scales appear clear.

Example of rubbing:

The white marks on her forehead were caused by running her head against the lid of the deli cup she was in for the first couple of weeks of her life.

Hope that helps.

To put an image up, from another account (such as photobucket or imageshack) use the image tags [ img]URL goes here[ /img] (without the spaces of course). If you are using the image button on the reply tool bar, be sure to hit end before hitting enter after you've added the link address using the pop-ups.

Since the updates were done to the site, the photo address has been highlighted in your replies once you use the image function button and if you don't un-highlight the image, any typing after that erases the address of the image.

If you are trying to upload the image from your computer, you have to use the attachment feature underneath the reply window to upload the image.

Hope that helps.

Ah, there we go... yeah, looks like rub damage on the tip of his nose. That is what you are referring to correct? Could be a small amount of scarring there too. Hard to see it in that picture to be sure.

I doubt it will ever completely disappear, but it should fade a bit and become smoother as he ages. (Over a span of years.) It doesn't actually hurt the snake and won't affect his health. It's just an unsightly blemish. He sure is a cute little normal though.

There's 4 scratch marks total, two sets of parallel ones down his neck...he has had these marks since I got him back in September and he has gone through two perfect sheds so far without the marks lighten up any. It doesn't feel like there's any dents on his body where the marks are so...I was wondering if it's some sort of discoloration. The whole thing's just weird. His sister from the same clutch doesn't have these scratch marks though.

Are you referring to the white areas in his saddles?

its really hard to tell from the pics what your talking about. is there anyway that you could get one a little closer.

If you are, that looks like it is just a part of his natural colors. It can sometimes be referred to as frosting. It almost appears as if the two saddles in question started to separate but got stopped halfway through.

i'll post more (better) pics tonight
sorry for all the mess and thanks for the tips yall

Okay here's a cropped image of just the saddles with the strange "scratch mark" looking discoloration thingies...
He has had these marks since I got him from the local pet store about two months ago. He has shed twice since and the marks has not faded any at all. They don't resemble the "frosted" looks to me either.

Those markings aren't anything abnormal. Just part of your snake's coloration.

Indeed. I have 2 hatchlings with identical marks as yours. Just part of their markings.

My hypo, Buck, has exactly the same markings in his saddles
