How to set up a tape trap?

(Some of y'all may have seen my desperate post in the "Miscellaneous" category... my baby escaped over the weekend and I can't find him.)
What is the best way to set up a tape trap? What is the best kind of tape to use? Where are the best places to put them?

You really shouldn't use tape, you risk doing serious damage to your snake and his scales.
Some people *however* will occasionally use painters tape only because it's only slightly tacky, but really there are other methods you should try first.
Have you tried building a pinkie trap for your snake using an old soda bottle yet?

Be prepared to face this once you find him.

Do NOT use tape. Take corny noob's suggestion and use a pinky-trap.
Take a soda bottle. Cut of the top fourth or so (end w/ the lid). Turn this part around and stick it firmly into the rest of the bottle so that the it works like a funnel. Place a pinky mouse inside. Set trap on the ground near a wall and wait.
I hope this is a good enough explanation but anyone else please feel free to elaborate.

Ouch! Okay, I see why tape may not be a good idea. I thought I'd try it because I heard the bottle trap doesn't work as well as the tape. I will see what happens with the bottle. Thanks guys!

I need to elaborate, because my post sounded confusing.
I do NOT recommend the tape trap, and I was showing pictures to show how dangerous it can be. The soda bottle method is one of the best.

Hi!
Please don't worry too much about some days of escape... last week I helped finding a hatchling that had been "lost" for more than sixteen days!
We searched and seached, threw over every flower pot...
And then, when we just prepared to leave, we saw little Fhynaan crawling over a pillow in the sleeping room. Where we had never suspected him :)
Good luck with the bottle trap!

Thank you! I've been advised by many not to worry, that he will turn up, but I can't help it. Today was the second day of the bottle trap, and no sign of him.
