Orville Redenbacher

I am really worried about my corn snake Orville. He has stopped eating all together. He used to come out and play with William III, the king snake. Now he just stays coiled up in the corner. I thought he might be cold so I moved his aquarium to a table in front of a big window so he gets lots of sun all afternoon. You can put your hand on the cedar shavings and feel that they are nice and warm.

I have a plate of corn out for him but he doesn’t seem at all interested. Do you think I should change to creamed corn since he is just a baby?

William III goes over and licks his face every once in a while, but it doesn’t seem to cheer him up.

I’m so worried; I just don’t know what to do.

Do you have a heat lamp on him? Are you heating the corn? It might help to scent it with butter. He ought to be able to eat whole corn even though he is a baby. I think it might help to bathe him.

I hadn't thought of butter. I'll get right on that!

Nanci

If butter doesn't work, you could try salt, but it's hard to get them off that, then.

I have read about problems with sodium

Give him a butter bath. That way he will be all shiney... I heard shiney snakes are healthy snakes that like to eat.

Have you tried putting the corn or creamed corn in a bowl and on some ice cream?

Nanci

Maybe if you put ice cream on William III he would lick it off...

You ever try to floss a cornsnake after s/he has eaten? It's a PITA.

I'm assuming all of this is a joke? No, jokes are supposed to be funny.

Dude, April Fool's day was yesterday. When you miss your timing, just let it go. Or was this just your way of saying you're so much better than noobies who ask what may seem like simple questions? Let me guess, you were born a genius.

I am far from Mr Serious. Just ask anyone that actually knows me. On the other hand, I do not need to stoop to the level of laughing at/downplaying others to make myself appear intelligent and witty. That would be called bullying, for those unfamiliar with the concept, and is a cheap way to get a laugh, IMO. I also failed to see or smell any irony in this thread :shrugs:

Oh for crying out loud. This is more of a joke than the one I started. It was very dull and quiet in here this morning and I thought I would just try to get a little conversation going. I did not mean to step on your tiny little ego.

If you spend 5 minutes reading the posts on CS you will see that the people who you are mad at for picking on the noobs are the very same people that answer most of the sincere questions here.

To quote a very famous lady, "Havin' some fun....then reeeeel it in"

My bad, I didn't bother to look at the date. Anyway, I played my own little april fools in the chat.

I managed to convince everyone that I had inherited a burmese python! :)

You didn't step on my "tiny little ego". And just so you know, those that step on egos are usually doing so because they have problems with their own. And who said I was mad at anyone? I was merely calling out what I saw to be pretty low and tactless. It's who I am.

I agree with Mr. Jazz, I think creamed corn is the only way to go. Salt and Butter are going to take their toll in the long run. Just veggies for my boy.

William III will stay on his raw meat and fur diet.

Strange thing is....I LOVE THAT SONG. It's one of the few things of the 80s that I found tolerable.

But you'll get no argument from me that the video is as cheesy as it gets.

Agreed, and that's part of its charm, I guess....speaking as a pasty white guy with a bass voice, it was a pleasant surprise twenty years ago to hear a song that sounded like a James Ingram/Barry White cross come out of ..... a pasty white guy. ;)

I sure would not admit it if it was stuck in my head.. It always seemed to me the boy was just not right, sort of like cream corn for a king snake.. *LOL*

That's hard to believe! Why do you think they call them milksnakes? Inez spews out milk every time I pick her up! I have to run to the kitchen with her and get a glass!

Actually I used to make milking stools for milk snakes...Made out of the purest ivory

Nanci

As long as it's mammoth ivory, that's ok.

snakewispera snr

Never!.... I only used fake ivory.....It came from the penal bone of the walrus...

Most of the stool that I've seen isn't ivory in color.
