Snake falling

Ok so my snake thinks she is superwoman, slither along the edging of the tank lid and then her whole body drops and does this about a dozen times. Will this hurt her or will she just get over it.

Is there something i can do? She will slither up that tree and along the edging. Here is her setup

meh, my snakes fall ALL the time! i'm certain it happens in the wild too, so i don't think a fall inside the viv is anything to worry about.

Im not an expert but I remember back in high school when my science teacher had a snake that falls all the time from climbing the edges of his viv too. I think your snake should completely be fine. Its just their natural instinct.

Mine do it too. It used to worry me, but it doesn't anymore. I am moving them into tubs anyway soon. I wouldn't worry.

How high is the fall? I would think that anything larger then 3 feet should be a concern, even though I'm sure that lesser falls could possibly have negative consequences. I wouldn't worry about it, though you could rearrange the cage furniture that she is climbing on so that she can climb without falling.

none of my corn snakes do, but when I had my Garter snake, he would daily climb up the side and the fall. . . We all thought he had mental problems. . .

But as long as she doesn't land on anything that could impale her, she should be fine. Then Again I don't think you have anything in the snakes cage that could impale her. . . :D

maybe she jsut likes to climb, maybe you should get some of those fake vines?
I have some in Star's viv, and she is climbing arround on them all the time ;)

Distract her with things thatll support her weight so she can climb safely. This is one of my vivs...

I use twistie branches, hammocks and those heavy duty suction cups....Once she sees she can climb, she'll probably stop LOL but at least she wont be falling.

I'm so glad that I found this. lol My corn will literally stand stick straight like a pencil until she reaches the thermometer in the viv. She then will curl her upper body around it and then climb up to the top. She falls all the time. I was worried she may get hurt, but I feel better now.

There that's better.

When we used to keep the young corns in tanks, we had this issue too. They love to climb and explore, like most snakes do. Giving your snake more to do so to speak, seems to help. Keep the covers on tight because they can get out and once they do, they will always try to get out. Give your snake a few branches that are thick enough to support it and it should stop doing the walk-about-the-rim.

Nice snake btw!
