Eye Damage?

I noticed the other day while holding my snake that his eye, not quite his eye but the skin on it, is either an extra layer or the skin is cracked( Some sort of damage.) I'm not sure what it is but the "extra layer" was not there when he last shed. I would submit pictures but my snake would not cooperate with my camera. If I can get him to I will submit pictures:shrugs:

That "extra layer" may not have "looked" like it was there, but if your snake has an odd looking eye right after a shed I would be concerned about an incomplete shed at the eye caps.

Does it have a different color or appearance(other than the "crack") than the other eye? When first in blue my snake's skin is hazy and dull colored but after that, and right before she sheds, she looks almost like normal. Could be it looks like the normal color but still has the eye cap.
Do a search, don't take my word, but I think I've seen references to using mineral oil and a q-tip to remove it.

I have Snake "wound aid", is that the same thing? And the other eye is a dull color also. The only difference is that there is a crack

well it might be time for another shed. If your snake doesnt shed in the next couple of weeks I'd take it to a vet to have the eye looked at. It could be going into shed and some damage occurred to the eye cap.

Most of the time, even if an eye cap is retained, once the humidity is upped for the next shed it will come off with the next shed. No need to risk removing it manually. Provide a moist hide for the snake and I'll bet that the eye will look normal after the next shed cycle.
