Dimpled Eggs

Several of my eggs have started to develop dimples. What causes this? Does it mean that there is a problem? What do I do? HELP!

It usually means that it's too dry. Mist the eggs with warm water or find another way to raise the humidity. Maybe you could keep a hygrometer (is that the right word for a humidity gauge..?) to check the humidity.

They're too dry. You can fix the problem easily enough, though.

Mist the substrate you're incubating them in (perlite, vermiculite, etc) with water, but don't get the eggs themselves too awful wet. Then cover the eggs and substrate with a wet paper towel. That will do two things, provide more humidity for the eggs by lessening the evaporation oportunities and tell you when you need to mist them again (the towel will be dry)!

Have fun -- Darin
