When she hits 16 grams you can give her 2 pinkies that way roughly 3 grams. When she hits 24 grams you can move her up to a small fuzzy that weighs roughly 5-7 grams. Follow the Munson Plan the way it is written....you DO NOTwant a regurge on your hands. Wait until they hit the wait listed.

Keep in mind that the growth between the 16 grams to the 24 grams is crazy fast. I started Cyrus on 2 pinkies just before Christmas and he is about 1 or 2 feedings away from moving up to a small fuzzy!

Just follow the Munson Plan and it takes all the worry and fret out of how to feed your snake!

Good Luck!

I have been wondering the same with mine so I guess I will weigh him in a few days. Right now last night he ate one pinkie as usual, but for the first time actually came out looking for more. He sniffed the empty container for 30 minutes before retreating so I think he may need a second next time.

Make sure you weigh her before you up her meal.....you don't want a regurge!

I feed mine (yearling, one is 6 months) every friday before I relax for the weekend.

Easy to remember without looking at a calendar or trying to remember the last time you fed them. They are doing just fine.
Although I don't use a calendar I still write down the date and any other important info like if they shed today. I also clean the water dish and give fresh water every time.

I apologize Kev.....I thought your post said your snake was 15 grams, but you were refering to the mouse....Sorry!

Anyway, I would weigh them again (especially the one that was 50 grams at last weigh). If he is above 51 grams give him a Hopper (9-12 grams) until he hits 91 grams. Then you can move him up to Weaned (14-20 grams), then just follow the Plan from there. I would follow this pretty strict.

As for the little lady I would go with the Munson Plan too.....1 Adult weighing 20-30 grams. Now, I am a newbie too, but it is my understanding that you need to graduate to the next level of mice due to nutritional value, not just weight.

Hope this helps!

Don't be fooled by hunting behaviour. In the wild, they'd usually find more than one mouse at a time and would eat as many as they could. This insures them against not finding food again for a couple of weeks.

In captivity, they don't understand that their next meal is guaranteed, so they will hunt round for more. If you start "feeding on demand", you'll end up with a very tubby Corn!

Very true.....very tubby or very dead as you'll kill the poor fellas due to regurge. So play it safe and follow the plans outlined by the people on here. Believe me, they know what they say!

You need to compare the size of the snake, to the size of the food.

Whilst young, the size of the food item should be about one and a half times wider than the snake's body. It should leave a visible lump in the belly for around 48 hours after swallowing.

If the food item is the same size as the snake's body, or the lump disappears after 24 hours, then you should try going up to the next food size.

Once a Corn is fully grown (at around 3 years old), the largest food item offered should be a large mouse. Some folks offer rats, but I think these have a higher fat content than mice and aren't as suitable for Corns.

According to The Munson Plan you should up her to 1 large mouse weighing around 20-30 grams every 7 days.

i tried feeding her (Amber 266g) again on feed day but NOPE !! ( 1 large mouse wasted LOL) now she in blue so i'll hav to wait a bit longer to feed her :D

as for the boys well, Marley(58g) had a fuzzie (10 g) he took it but then dropped it and took it butt first... I thought his head was going to explode it took him about 15 minutes to get it down :D:D the lump looked good havent seen him since i fed him, but Ziggy (36g) who had a rat pup (8-9g) was out n about tonight??

i'd like to thank you all for your info and putting me onto "the Munson Plan" because otherwise i would hav been underfeeding my snakes  thanks again

1 more thing ?? how often do you wiegh your snakes? wot kind of scales do you use?

tc
