I'm new to snakes and have been reading and researching all of the info. I can on them. We just got our little guy"Lighting Jack"(hope he's a he)today. Anyway I'm reading all of the prev. posts here and I came acrossed Kilojara16s' post on 5/19 on Salmonella. In reading the replies I was confused to hear people talking about BATHING their snakes.I went back to my Corn Manual and couldn't find anything there.
Do you bath snakes? And if so how, when, and why?

PS. I do know to soak them if they need it in shed.

Thanks and TY Rich for the site it's very helpful,
Colleen

Colleen,

From what I've read here, some people let their snakes swim in a tub for excercise or let them swim in a tub once they have defecated from their last meal. I don't think it is necessary to bathe a snake, but it couldn't hurt. I wouldn't suggest using any kind of soap. Just plain lukewarm water. Never either extreme hot nor cold.

It's really just to have a bit of exercise, a change for them. Also it help's if the snake is ready to shed and if it is constipated. I bought a baby bath for mine to swim about in, it's only ever used for my snake's and nothing else.
