A LUMP!!!!!!!!!

I noticed two weeks ago that my anery corn had a lump in her belly (even though she had been fed 4 days before), so I got her out and she was just acting normal so I put her back 2 see if it would go away and it did.

Today I noticed the lump had come back so I handled her for about 10 mins and it went away again. The temp in her tank is the same as it always has been, she's still going to the toilet and she is still eating fine. What can this be?

If anyone could help I'd be very grateful, thanku!

She's about 13 months old, would her age have anything to do with it?
or and I live near Newcastle.

Try taking the snake to reptile allsorts in Newcastle. They should be able to check the snake out and tell you if you need to see a vet.

There's a good reptile vet place in Brighton I read it's meant to be the best in the country

Yeah, I was thinking of going to reptile allsorts, they always have loads of corns for sale so they should no something about that lump!

Could the lump be wind? because it goes down so quickly.

That lump doesn't sound so good.

To me it suggests an over growth of bacteria in the gut and it's producing alot of gas. Also snake flatulence is one of the most foul smelling things you'll ever smell, so you'll definately know if it's that.

The vet should be able to tell you what it is, but it may come out to a costly bill (he/she'll probably want to do an X-ray along with a fecal, and then possibly a bacterial culture, which will add up to quite a hefty sum).

I suppose it could be cryptosporydium(sp?) wich is extremely contagious and should be kept away from all other snakes. (like in a totally different room) I think it could also be deadly. You should deffinetly see a vet, no matter what it might be.

it won't be crypto. The swelling caused by crypto and the swelling caused by GI tract gas are two entirely different things. In crypto, the swelling doesn't show until advanced stages and it's HARD, not a soft lump and it does not go away.

I've just bought some G.S.E and i know the right amout to put in the water, the lump is down at the moment and I took her water out 2 days ago (like it said in the corn snake manual!) to get her thirsty. How often do I give it to her?

(Thanx to every1's reply)

You can give GSE as often and for as long as you like in small doses (2-3 drops per gallon), but if there's nothing wrong with the snake, I don't see any reason to give more.

However I do put trace amounts of GSE into the water of all my pets to keep bacteria levels down in the water.
