Just a note here... The pricelist has a wholesale pricing section for each cultivar listed for these 2009 animals. A few have sold out already. That wholesale pricing will only remaining in effect until the bulk of the animals have hatched out and then feeding. At that point the offer will be withdrawn.
This is in lieu of the 50 percent pre-hatching sale I have offered in the past. The results are basically the same without having to use a coupon code to get the discount.
http://www.serpenco.com/shop/customer/home.php?cat=280
Every year I had that pre-hatching sale I would have a bunch of people contact me after it was over and lament the fact that they had missed it. Well if you miss it this year, you will REALLY REALLY miss it. If you know what I mean.... ;)

Sorry for the double post, but is anyone else having trouble placing an order right now? Rich is the server down or something? I keep getting the message:
"Secure Connection Failed
serpenco.com uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.
(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
* This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.
* If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later."
I'm assuming that there's a temporary server error or something, but if you guys can let me know if you are seeing the same thing I'm seeing, I'd really appreciate it.

Well, I ran a test order, and had my server guy check it out. No problems found. I have also had other orders placed successfully since then. Are you still having that problem?

Rich, I tried to place my order again, but it's still the same. The same message keeps popping up. I don't know what's going on. Maybe it's just my firewall program or something blocking your cart system, because it's saying something about your security certificate. I can try having my browser just accept the certificate, but I'm just weary about my personal info being thrown out about the internet. No offense Rich, it's just that I'm a bit paranoid about my personal info and all. So, if there's no other way around it, I can just see if I can accept the certificate and place my order. But, if there's any other way I can have my order placed, I'd rather take the alternative.
Also, I was just wondering. Since, you already have my billing information, would it be possible for you just to add the items for me and charge me? I'm sorry if I'm asking too much. -.-;;;

^ It sounds like your internet privacy settings are too high or an FF error. I'd say stop being paranoid and accept the cert :P It's safer to use the ssl than emailing info, imo ('cause I don't even use ssl on my personal emails).

What I would suggest that you do then is to place the order online, mark it to be paid by some method other than credit card (check or money order, for instance), and then call me on the phone with your credit card info. That will likely work.
But yes, sounds like a security issue with your browser. I have a SSL cert installed that appears to be working for everyone else, so I don't know how you have your security settings set up.

Just a quick note here to let people know that some of the cheaper animals on my price list will only be available if pre-ordered. Since this will be my last year producing working with these critters, I want to move things out as quickly as possible. So a LOT of stuff is going to be bulked out as soon as it hatches out. I've got over 5,000 eggs incubating right now and I'm not planning on setting up and feeding more than about 1,000 of those, if that many. Connie is already making plans on terminating the mouse colony as soon as the adults go into brumation (assuming the business isn't sold by then anyway and they are OUT OF HERE), so that means anything feeding on live has to be out of here by around the end of September.
The wholesale to the public prices I am offering are actually quite reasonable, but that will only be offered while the snakes are still hatching. Once they are out of the egg, set up and feeding, then only retail pricing will be offered.
This will be the last year I am selling snakes, and I will be selling animals I would normally keep myself, so get 'em while you can! :)

Rich,
I just hope you have 1.1 sunkissed and an "I don't care" amber het blood and pewter available in late July/early August. I don't have the space or money for a wholesale order...but am looking forward to doing business with you one last time.
And I hope you have a wonderful retirement!

Thanks Bethany, but quite honestly, I'm not really sure if I will have them available after the hatching is finished. I'm really not looking forward to the workload Connie and I have had to bear up under at this time of year for the last decade or so. I'm not planning on holding back anything but the higher value animals to set them up and get them feeding. Of course, I will have a list of the reserved animals bought at retail that I will set up and make sure are doing OK, but that other stuff is mostly going to get bulked out this year to cut our workload down drastically.
For instance, last year I produced a ton of Sunkisseds and held them back and got them feeding, thinking they would likely sell well with all the interest in the Sunkissed combos at that time. Took me a LONG time to move them all out. But the price difference between bulking them out and keeping them to sell at retail is not all that much to cover the labor to take care of them for a few months. I figure on roughly every 500 babies I keep to cost me a additional full day in labor per week to take care of.
Hope this doesn't sound too mercenary, but it would really piss me off to have a heart attack THIS year.......

Then I will have to move a little faster! I didn't know I "needed" sunkissed until about 2 weeks ago :)
I have enough right now for the amber het blood and a male sunkissed.
At the rate I'm going I will need about 3 weeks to get the female sunkissed, the pewter and the shipping.
I'm selling off part of a jewelry collection to make the money.
I am watching your snake inventory everyday like a hawk.
I know the pewters are out of stock.
I can live without a pewter if things get dicey.
Hopefully the stuff is still hatching in July :)

Actually I just had my first clutch hatch back on the 6th. So it is beginning.... Looks like I will have the bulk of the hatching done by the end of July, but there are going to be straggler clutches for a while after that. Some of those dummy girls are now throwing their second clutches. Wish they wouldn't do that.....
But bear in mind that stuff I am going to bulk out will be shipped out as soon as those clutches hatch, not after EVERYTHING has hatched out. So if all the Sunkissed clutches hatch out, say, the last week in June, then they will be shipped out the last week in June or thereabouts. Once I start shipping out the bulk animals, I expect to be making a shipment every Monday until they are gone. I will only be holding back stuff for the orders and to take to Expo in mid August. After that I really hope ALL the babies are gone.
I hate to rush anyone, but really, once Connie and I made our minds up to retire, it just can't happen soon enough to suit us. If you want to get an idea of how we are feeling right now, think back when you were in school during the week before summer vacation started..... That gives you a little bit of an idea about our mindset right now.

I can't wait until mine hatch and are ready to go! Have the tubs ready and waiting ;)
Rich, I have a question about your shopping cart program: What is the "wish list" thing about? I hadn't seen it there before.

Well, honestly, my wholesale prices are pretty darn low as they are. I priced them to try to move them QUICKLY. But, send me a PM with how much you are willing to spend and we'll see....

On most other sites I have been on, it's kind of like a storage area where you can store a list of merchandise that you have seen there and might want to buy sometime. I'm guessing that is the way it works on mine as well, but I've never really tried it myself.... :shrugs:

I've already placed my order, but if I should win the lottery tomorrow, would there be a way to add to my order without having to spend an additional $300 for wholesale prices plus go through your shopping cart system which automatically adds another shipping charge? I'm guessing via a regular e-mail and sending payment via PayPal by "initiating it at my end". I know that will mess up your "numbers available" in your system and you would have to change them manually, but I just have to ask if it's an option that you would be willing to allow.
Rich Z
06-09-2009, 02:03 AM
Yes, you can add to your order, but I am requesting from everyone to not CHANGE an order by wanting to exchange one or more animals for something else. This sort of thing multiplies the chances of an order getting screwed up, and I try REAL HARD not to do that. I have a stack of orders, and try to keep all correspondence together for each customer. If there are 29 changes to that order, and I miss one of them, then I'm the bad guy because I messed up your order. Additions are a simple matter of just stapling the additional order(s) to the original one and hoping I have the presence of mind to remember to READ every page there in that complete order.
Now back to you, Susan. The easiest way to add to an order is to just use the shopping cart program and use the coupon code of "1111" to get free shipping for that add-on order. That helps me keep inventory straight, and does the automatic PayPal thing without my intervention. And thank you for helping with my retirement.
So babies are beginning to hatch. These will be the last corn snakes I will ever hatch out in the rest of my lifetime. If you have EVER been wanting to buy cornsnakes from me, NOW is your last chance. And look at it this way, don't you want to save an old man from a heart attack this year?
Seriously, I DO get chest pains every year around this time. But with pains coming from every other part of my body, why should my chest be exempt? I'm trying to retire BEFORE all this kills me as well as Connie.
Susan

Terrific! Good to know you have already made it terribly easy for anyone to make additions to their orders! And I can fully understand about not making changes. I'm not the kind of female that changes her mind every few minutes, but it's going to be really hard not to "save" more hatchlings from the bulk wholesale buyers, especially if more money starts coming in!
Rich Z
06-10-2009, 03:32 PM
Sigh... those dummies are STILL laying eggs...... I REALLY REALLY don't want to be having babies hatching out late in the season. Connie has already decided she wants to terminate the mouse colony as soon as the adults stop eating in preparation for brumation. So once that happens, no more live pinky mice, and the adults HAVE to be gone before brumation ends.
I've got someone talking about buying the business to include the 2007 and older animals, so they are going to be "on hold" for a bit to see if that comes through. I've still got plenty of 2008s for sale and the 2009s are beginning to hatch, so I've got plenty to offer for sale now as it is.
I'm surprised that some of those 2008s are still here. The Hypo Ashys haven't sold yet? How many of them are available out there? I thought there couldn't be very many of them around. Especially at the cheaper prices I am offering to blow, er "move" them out right now....
Get 'em while they are hot!

I should be able to start sending out some of the wholesale orders within the next week or two. Quite a few clutches are hatching now, so it's time to start moving them out. Of course there is always going to be one animal I am waiting on for many of the orders. Never fails..... :bang:
