new snake: feeding?

diabolical-good

i purchased a 12 week old little corn not long ago. the woman at the store was very helpful, i got everything for it and the baby's been fine, very willing to be held and although it spends a lot of time in its hides he'll come out and just stare through the glass.

when i bought it the woman said the snakes have all been fed a few days before a got it, and could be fed again next friday no problem but it probably wouldnt eat right away.

i know snakes have to get used to their surroundings, etc., but i put mine in a separate old coffee can and put it in the with the defrosted pinkie. i also tried dangling the food a little in front of it, but the snake just turned away and tried to 'explore'.
do you think maybe it was the coffee can? should i put it someplace else? after it wouldnt eat i just left the pinkie in its cage over night, but it still didnt take it, so i threw the pinkie away.

well just any tips would be nice, anything i could try? thanks - lina

I'd recommend using a container that isn't made of a reflective material. The small, reusable, plastic Glad containers work great and are very inexpensive.

A suggestion:
Try placing the pinkie in the container with the snake and closing the lid. Do this in the evening. Next, place the container inside of a dark cabinet and leave it for a couple of hours. (Resist opening the door and peeking in every 15 minutes ;))
