I just have a question. My adult beast cream was cooled down for a while decided to take him out and warm him up. So after 2 wks of warming up I offered food and he refused. So I figured ok off feed no big deal remond you he eats live only. So a couple days laters i was feeding my babies and offered a pink to him and what you know he eats a f/t pink but thats all he will eat so Im just like dang I know your eating but why just pinks?

????? Try rubbing a pinky on a fuzzy or ?? something bigger next feeding day and see what happens. ???

It's a guess!!

Was he down long enough to reset his clock, and now he thinks it's time for love, not time for eating? Except for those pinks, those are like candy!! I guess I wouldn't worry about it very much.

I've heard you can get animals switched off bad feeding habits after brumating. Lizards, torts, snakes. That would be nice if he stayed on FT now! I'd just not worry about it too much, give him his pink, try him in a week maybe on a fuzzy or a rat pink, if he doesn't eat let him go two weeks, try him again on a smaller prey, if he doesn't take it, give him his pink, or a couple, or three, and then repeat. It seems like it should almost be spring time hunger strike time, to me.

I have some snakes that go for several months at a time without eating, for no apparent reason, and barely lose any weight at all.

Selwyn did that earlier this year. It was after she laid eggs - she threw up a mouse when she finally ate again and then wouldn't eat again for a month. I accidently thawed out an extra pinkie and thought, what the heck, I'll try to give it to her. She gobbled it right up and that seemed to trigger her desire to eat again. Next time she ate a fuzzy, then a hopper, then back up to adult mice, again.

Hopefully your beast will do the same thing. Do you have any way to get rat pups? I have found that if any of my snakes are being reluctant to eat, if I offer them rat instead of mouse, they gobble it right up. Must be tastier :)

Sounds to me like you have tricked your boy into thinking it's spring which means breeding time, like Nanci said. If he is in breed mode he may not eat for months. If he's big and healthy, I'd only offer him a mouse once every couple weeks. He may or may not take it so have another hungry snake on hand to feed the mouse too. :)

Isn't it funny how we (I) can barely stand it when a baby missed a meal because of being in shed, but when an adult male goes on feeding strike it's like a vacation!!

LOL I agree with that 100%. It's like we calculate how many extra mice we'll have if he don't eat.
