  • thank you for getting back to me.the colours are interesting. no the mum or dad does not have chequers on tummy just checked. I have some pretty colours though i thought it was quite good to have 4 different colours from one batch of eggs .feeding day again tomorrow so i will load all the non eaters up and put them in a small tub i will brain them and put tuna juice on and leave them over night then.Fingers crossed :) I will get back to you & let you know if we have won the battle ! lol. thank you for your help :)
Ok, 3 hrs in the dark tub probably isn't long enough for the stubborn ones! Leave them overnight, absolutely no peeking, you want them to feel totally secure. I had a look at your photos, mum and dad look like a normal/Carolina corn and a snow. The normal also must carry hets (genes) for amel and anery. The babies look like a mix of snow (pink with white), amel (orange/red), normal and anery. The normal and anery can be hard to tell apart when they're so young, plus your pics are a bit dark, but aneries are black and grey, whereas the normals are more brownish. Do the parents have chequers on their tummies? Some of the babies may be going into shed again, so I wouldn't overly worry about the ones which have eaten before but refused this time.
    HELP!
I have have followed all instructions to the letter.I now have 5 out of 11 not feeding this time around. I put fish oil from the tuna on them and brained them and put them in dark box for 3 hours. still have not fed the others have had 3 feeds now and a couple of the other 5 have had 1-2 feeds but not eating this time around ?The little pink one still strikes just like a cobra has not shed yet or eaten as yet they are all coming up to 1 month old tomorrow 26/10/2012.I have also tried to get them to strike feed they will strike at the food but do not show much interest i cant understand it yet the rest are gobbling it down.I keep them on kitchen towel a little pot for water and a toilet roll inner for them to hide in & all kept on a part heat mat to vary temps
I will try to upload some photos of mum & dad and babies any help is most appricated many thanks.
You can brain it as well if you want. I would highly recommend the marg tub feeding trick. It worked wonders especially with the ones with attitudes. They are really the ones who are most scared, and they need to feel ultra safe to even consider eating. They are at their most vulnerable when had way through a feed! My little girl wouldn't eat til after she shed so you may have just have to wait her out! What kind of substrate and hides do you use? What morphs are the parents?
    hi all ,
    thank you for your replies.
dear mariek the little pink snake is showing no signs of shedding not even a cloudy eye. i have her in a clear container with high humidity sandwich box size holes in the top 8 inches long by 4 inches high by 6 inches wide .i have even added some small stones just in case .I think this maybe why she is so bad tempered .I will get some tuna juice ready for next feed in a couple of days do i still brain the pinkie ?
So you do get nasty ones then it most strange i have noticed the ones with attitude are all pink with white markings all the rest are fine. thank you all for your help every little helps:) I will post some pictures on here if i can so you can see the colours as there are so many morphs it hard to put a name to there colours.
This is how I started all of my babies eating. First feed put them in an empty margarine tub last thing at night with a really hot pinkie. Leave it till the morning, no peeking! Sometimes the small space and inability to get away from it triggers the feeding. Also not being able to see out of the tub makes them feel safer. 7 out of 9 babies took first time this way. With the small girl I placed damp kitchen roll in her tub to up the humidity and left her alone til she shed. Then she required the hot pinkie dipped in tuna juice before she'd eat! I also had a little one who thought he was a cobra, very cute, but he got better with consistent handling. Hope this helps!
Hi, does the one that hasn't shed look like it's going to? What size housing are you using for them, and how r u offering the pinks? I had one this year who was much smaller than her siblings and it took her nearly 3 weeks to have her first shed, then some tricks to make her eat!
