Good book to learn about breeding, genetics?

Hi wise cornsnake people. I would like to learn more about genetics and breeding. So, I was wondering what are some good books to learn about this area specifically. I want to get into breeding maybe a few years down the road, but I want to get better educated on genetics. Thanks!

    Feeding schedule question

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding feeding. My '07 motley Cheerio is approaching 100g in weight. I'm feeding him a single hopper from TMF at feeding time. Is there a point at which they can go to two hoppers, or just bump up to one weanling? I try to follow the Munson Plan generally...

    Just showing off my snakes..

I haven't posted any pictures of my snakes (with the exception of one of them in another post), even though I've been a member for a while. They're nothing high end, but I love 'em. Enjoy. First up is Cheerio, he was my first snake. Next is Okeetee, she is classic/normal, just named...

    okeetee or normal?

Hi guys, last year I bought this girl as an okeetee, but now I'm thinking she may be a normal. I'm not very good with morphs, so what do ya'll think? I started wondering about it, so I knew where to come to get an answer. Thanks.

Hey everyone, my family and I are thinking of making the Daytona show part of a weekend trip so that I can attend for the first time. My question is this, I may want to buy at least one snake. How do I properly care for a snake in a hotel room overnight, then proceed to drive home for 8 hrs the...

    First time with MITES *sigh*

I just got an okeetee, which I LOVE. Anyway, I thought I had done a thorough job looking it over for mites. Apparently, I couldn't see them because they are kinda clear. I saw them after we got home and the sun was coming through the window while I was examining the snake. The fun has begun...

    Question concerning travel with snake..

Hey guys, I plan on taking my corn to Columbia show tomorrow so Jeff can sex him for me. I am 1 1/2 hrs from the show. Anything I should know about before taking him on the road? I have a small carrier for him. I thought I would put some aspen in and put him in my purse so it will be dark and he...

    My snakes feeding preferences, haha

I can't believe my snake prefers to eat in this specific manner. I had two feedings rejected. I was trying privacy, and in a tupperware container. He acted uninterested. Finally, one night my husband, my three year old daughter, and myself had him out for play time. We had him on a white towel...

    disinfecting wood hides

I use a diluted bleach solution to clean the inside of the tank, water bowl, and rock hide. I have one hide that is wood, and one that is coconut shell. They are absorbent, so is it safe to use the bleach solution? I spray everything down and then rinse VERY well, of course. I would like to know...

    Well check at the vet

Cheerio had his first well check this morning. All is well. No mites, no parasites, all scales looked fine. He pooped on the way there, so I had them do a fecal for worms. He checked out perfect. One question, he is about 3-4 months old and I'm not positive if Cheerio is a he or she. The vet...

    UTH question

Hi, I currently use ceramic heat hooked to a rheostat. Also, the thermometer with a probe for reading. I bought a uth today because I was going to switch over. However, the tank sits on my dresser. When I got the uth home, I started reading the directions and it said it should not be on...

    To feed or just wait?

Hi everyone, my snake is about to shed. His eyes were cloudy, this morning they were clear again. Today he is due to eat. Would you feed him or not? This is my first shed with him. Thanks. :crazy02: Michelle
