2018 Miami Tessera p/h Amel X LBR Miami p/h Amel Motley
4 Attachment(s)
This is my first test clutch from the possible Super/Homo Dom Miami Tessera clutch that I produced in 2015.
UPDATE: 8/1/18 babies have started to hatch, and there are some normal (Miami) babies, so I know that Azurite is NOT Super/Homo Dom. Azurite is now available for $100, shipping is additional. He is possible het Amel. I paired Azurite (ME-KAI-15-17M) with Aster, my LBR Miami. There are 16 out of 18 eggs, they should start pipping any day now. They started hatching on day 71. I am very excited about this clutch, and will be happy with the results either way, whether they're all Miami Tessera's or if I get half Miami Tessera's and half "normal" Miami babies, they should be fabulous. I'm really hoping for the thicker borders that Aster, the Dam has. I will definitely be holding back some babies to continue my Miami and Miami Tessera projects. Here are the parents: Sire: Azurite Dam: Aster Next are the paternal Grand parents: GrandSire: Brokk GrandDam: Kai (I'll put the paternal Great Grand parents in the next post) |

Paternal Great GrandSire: Taz (SMR Okeetee Tessera)
Paternal Great GrandDam: Kai (Miami phase-unknown lineage) |
I got home from work to find Aster laying a second clutch. I suspect they're going to be all/most slugs.
I only saw 4 or 5, I'm pretty sure she's no where near done yet. I'll check again tonight when I wake up. No pipping yet. |

Day 71,they started hatching!!
One has emerged, and a second one is thinking about it. LOL I saw several little noses peeking out. I am so excited for these babies! ME-AST-18-01 6 grams |
It looks like somebody is not a super tessera. But still a pretty baby. Great contrast.
|
Oooooo.....that one looks like it will turn out to be a very nice Miami phase.
I'll need you to post photos of each one as they emerge from the eggs and after they shed. Lol. |
No, Azurite is not a Super/Homo Dom Tessera, but I was just as happy with normal Miami babies in this clutch, because of the Dam, I'm hoping for some really nice borders.
Thank you Frank! I apologize for the delay, I work graveyard shift, and was sleeping. I woke up to a few more babies out of their eggs, and I got them weighed, and quick phone pics, but I won't be able to post them here until I get settled at work. I moved each egg to their own bin, so they are emerging in random order, compared to their numbers. This is the first year I have done it this way, it does make it nice not to dig through the substrate to find babies hiding at the bottom. LOL I work a 12 hour shift tonight, so I might not get photos of the ones that hatch after until after 11am tomorrow morning. I'll try to upload a few from my phone real quick, but I was havinig problems with the size on the first one, so it might not work. |
The photos aren't uploading on here, but I was able to get them onto my iHerp page.
The ones that have hatched are on it. https://www.iherp.com/Public/Animals...1-2adcae0f29d1 |

ME-AST-18-02 is a normal (Miami), and is still contemplating a full exit of his/her egg. LOL
This one is probably going to have the lighter coloring. Update: 8/2/18- I went home on a break and three had emerged, including this one. 7 grams |

ME-AST-18-13 is the last one that has emerged tonight. Pretty little Miami Tessera. I think this one will have coloring more like the Dam, Aster.

ME-AST-18-12 ok this one, I'm really excited about! The border on this one looks really nice, and the coloring looks to be really nice!
I cannot wait until they shed!! |
Five more to go! They still have a fair amount of yoke to absorb, hopefully they'll be ready tonight.
I hope to post the rest tonight, probably once I get to work. Murphy was kind to me, I ended up with 9 Tessera's out of 16 babies. I'm really happy with this clutch! |
Thanks for posting all those pictures. I know it isn't that easy. Nice looking miamis.

ME-AST-18-05 has emerged, 7 grams.
There's three more Tessera's, and one more normal Miami phase left to go. They are still working on their yoke. I separated the eggs into individual containers this year, something I haven't done before, and I probably won't do again. There isn't enough humidity, causing some of the egg shell to get dry, and I had to make sure that they had big enough openings to get out. Hopefully it hasn't negatively affected the babies in those eggs. I'm not at all disappointed that Azurite didn't end up being a Super/Homo Dom, I still have six other siblings to test out. Next year I hope to breed a few of them. Out of 16 eggs, I have 9 Tessera's, and 7 normal Miami babies. I'm looking forward to seeing them post shed, to see how many have thicker borders, which was my main priority in this clutch. I hope to have a variety of the Miami coloring, both the darker colors from LBR line, and the lighter coloring that I have in my line. Out of all of the morph's, Miami's and Miami Tessera's are my favorite, and will continue to be my focus. (Very close second is the Candy Cane project, using my Miami's of course). LOL |

Who am I kidding, I want to hoard them all! LOL Two left, they're getting closer to being ready. |

The last two finally emerged! These two were ones I was worried about, their eggs had dried more, and I had my doubts as to if they would pull through. So far, they look much better now!
ME-AST-18-08 hatched at 6 grams and is the coolest of the "normal" Miami babies. I hope he/she thrives! The first photo was after I opened the egg so he/she could emerge easier, and I sprayed some water to keep the yoke hydrated. The second photo was taken this morning. Looks much better than the past couple days! |
ME-AST-18-14

ME-AST-18-14 is the last one, and also looked questionable for a couple days. He/she had the driest of eggs before I opened them up to help them.
This one is the littlest, hatching at 5 grams, but seems to be doing much better today! The first photo was after I opened the egg up, and hydrated this little one, the next couple pics I took last night when he/she was done absorbing yoke, and the last one I took this morning. The babies that hatched on the 1st are turning blue, I cannot wait until they start shedding! Now I'm off to get ready to take my dog to Barn hunt training for the first time! Thank you all for looking, I hope you enjoy the photos! I will definitely add more once they have had their first shed! |
They've started to shed!!

A couple more have shed.
AST-15 F? AST-16 F? After the last two shed (#8 and #14), I'll take pics with my good camera and do first round of sexing them. |
All but two have shed, and I've done first round of sexing.
I usually sex them at least 3 times over a few weeks, to be sure. Often times males are pretty obvious. LOL |

The last two have shed.
AST-08 F? AST-14 F? I love the pattern on the normal one, she'll likely stay here. Since she doesn't have the thick borders I want, I'll have to keep two normal Miami females. LOL |
They look great!
