Gorgeous group you have.

You are a lot braver than I am handling all of those hots. What is the pretty green one?

I believe that is a western green mamba.

MalinoisK9 10-29-2018 02:55 PM

That's one of my western green mambas. He's a high green (natural variant). Obviously extra caution but treat them calmly with respect and for the most part they are pretty easy going outside of a few individuals. One of my Jameson's mambas is calmer than any cornsnake.

I'm scared just looking at the pictures. I'd be visiting the emergency room if they were in my collection for sure. It takes a special person to keep and maintain them.

Oh absolutely not for most but if you get a chance to be in their presence with an experienced keeper then it's something many should do. A calm mamba is such an extraordinary animal. They can be very inquisitive. Watching their wheels turn as they investigate something new is always fascinating to me. It takes lots of patience and some keepers aren't willing to put the work in with theirs, but the pay off is huge it watch these lightning quick and skittish animals get past that and metamorphosis into something calm and curious. They are very intelligent when they have the comfort to let their natural defensive guard down.

I'm just curious, do you have anti-venom on hand just in case there is an accident? I doubt that most hospitals would be able to handle an exotic snake bite. Some of the zoos might, or perhaps MSU?
