Beautiful picture of a beautiful snake that I'm glad I'm hundreds of miles away from. That's definitely the business end of a cottonmouth!

Cottonmouths are one of my favorite snakes. I love them.

They grow big & sassy in southwest Florida. I had to laugh when a local fisherman told me he was chased by a cottonmouth. He said it was swimming in a canal where he was fishing and it coiled around his fishing line, so he beat it with the end of his fishing rod and it came out of the water and chased him. He said he threw down the rod and ran across two lanes of traffic. Cars were stopping to see what was the matter. I couldn't stop laughing while he related the story. I guess the moral of the story is don't beat on a cottonmouth with anything, and don't run across traffic when you think you are being chased.

About right. I live in South Louisiana they can get huge. My step dad killed one that was after his chickens. It was about 3 inc wide about 5 foot long
