i think it's pretty. the side's remind me of marble, and the red stripe is neat. nice snake!

MegF. 05-15-2004 10:09 PM

Reminds me of a garter snake.

thanks for the comments~~~

MegF,

you're definately right. In fact I think that they're really considering to change them to the sub species of garters....

I too think that they look like garters...but they eat pinkies with no problem...at least in my collection.....

lol

MegF. 05-16-2004 09:56 AM

Will they eat fish as well?

Simon 05-16-2004 10:08 AM

I think that they do..
If I remember correctly..they do eat fish in the wild.

But heck since I have tons of pinky mice and rats in my freezer I would rather feed them those.....plus they grow a bit faster too....

I could try feeding them fish...but just incase they get stuck to the fish...so I don't want to risk and try...

MegF. 05-16-2004 10:33 AM

Interesting. Do they get very big?

Simon 05-17-2004 08:30 AM

Nope~
their adult size only gets up to around 3 feet. So size wise they're pretty small~

MegF. 05-17-2004 11:05 AM

Not bad for size though. How's the temperament? I've found garters to be pretty squirrely, although not aggressive per se. Are these similar?

Simon 05-17-2004 04:10 PM

Temperment wise...not too bad. I have 40 of these beauties in my collection and I have no one striking at me....so I guess its pretty good...well maybe they did but since they're so small I don't notice them biting? LOL..they're really small right now. I think the largest of these in my collection right now is around 20 inches long....the others are around hatchling corn size...some even smaller than that.....so even if they bite...I wouldn't really feel anything....at least I haven't seen them bite me...
