Modifying a screen lid

I want to reuse an old 10 gallon that previously housed a hamster for a gargoyle gecko, so I’m planning on setting it on its side. The lid doesn’t exactly fit the tank so I’m gonna need to work on it before I can use it. Anyone have any tips for “tightening” the lid to fit the tank? It’s only half an inch-1inch too big so hopefully its fixable. This may be a stretch, but is there anyway I can modify it to have an opening door or something so I don’t have to take the lid entirely off every time I need access to the inside of the tank? Sort of like those zilla tanks with the little hatch, I suppose. Thanks y’all

That's a great question. Is it a standard size tank with the black plastic around the top? If so, check WalMart for lids. I picked one up for less than 20$ and it fits very tightly. Other than that, I'll just follow this thread.

https://theinfamousj.tumblr.com/post...ay-to-lock-the This is what I did to make some DIY tank locks, so maybe something similar can work out for you? Maybe on the three sides and top (as in the aquarium's end on arrangement) will be enough to hold the lid on inescapably.
