2009 Hatchlings (Sunglow Motley-Stripe)
3 Attachment(s)
These babies were born on the 11th/12th of May (2009).
From the pairing of a Sunglow Stripe, to a Sunglow Motley, the babies are Sunglow Motley-Stripes (Motley pattern / het for both Motley and Stripe) They have just had their first sheds between the 18th & 20th (photos taken on the 19th & 20th). Some have, already, had their first meals and the rest should, soon, follow. Each baby (a total of 15) have their individual photos (2 pics of each) in separate posts... starting with Baby number 1. Edit: The 3rd photo, of the babies, is after their 2nd shed. . Sunglow Cube Stripe #1: - 3rd photo is after 2nd shed (taken on 07-09-09) |

Actually, #2 is one that I plan on holding back. At this time, I believe hold backs are going to be #2, #7, #10, #12, and #14. When a wee older, I will decide which, of those, I will be keeping and which ones I will sell. All others will be leaving, &/or will be for sale, very soon. Quote:
Some are of a more classic Motley pattern. Others have the Motley pattern (circles, ovals, &/or "striped Motley" patterning), at the fore, but somewhat "aberrant(?)", if not broken up - stretched - &/or "disappearing", patterning in the latter half ... and a couple/few have an almost "cubed" appearance in the latter portion of their bodies. All have plain, unpatterned, ventrums. The mother is a Sunglow Motley and the father is a Sunglow Stripe. Thus, while the babies have a Motley phenotype (Motley phenotype expected from the cross of a Motley to a Stripe), in all actuality they are het for both Motley and Stripe. |
Wow, I LOVE Them! Absolutely Stunning!
|
Congrats on the clutch! Those are some awsome hatchlings.
|
Very beautiful. I love the patterns and colors. I would be hard-pressed to part with any of them.

Thanks, animalhouse, Eli173, and Eric.:)
Am really looking forward to all of them having their second sheds (if they are, all, still here by then). Quote:
However, can't keep all babies produced and ... I suppose it would be a good thing to not have to find myself, eventually, living out in the horse barn due to lack of room in the home.;) One thing is for sure ... it has not been easy deciding which ones I am holding back from this clutch (and, then, the time will come, soon enough, where I will have to decide on which will be the keepers out of the 5? holdbacks). |
Well, let us know if you're selling! <3

They are all beautiful. The sunglow motleys are one of my personal favorite morphs. Congratulations!

cubes
Cubes = Stripes,so I would say your motley is het stripe

Don, also, bred (or breeds) Sunglow Stripes. So, I guess, anything is possible (as far as the Mot being het Stripe). However, unless I am mistaking crossovers, for being a Motley (or Striped Motley) pattern ... it would seem that she is not. I figured that the tendency toward a Stripe's head pattern (on some), and what somewhat looks like cubing in the latter part of a few babies bodies, were due to the fact that the babies are 100% het Stripe. You have made me start wondering, though, and I think I will have to go give the babies' patterns a real good looking over. |
Ummm
Some are stripes.......:)
|
No. 12....drool....! Great clutch!!

Some had me scratching my head a bit. Those particular individuals have some patterning, that lends toward Stripe (head pattern, of a Stripe, and the portions, that are Striped, are like those of a Stripe, rather than the Striped Motley pattern, etc.), but ... what really threw me off is that I thought the mother was a homozygous Motley (so, did not expect Stripes, of any form, at all). I, also, don't have much experience, with the cubed patterning of (&/or crossovers on) Stripes .. so, I guess that didn't help matters either. However, I believe you may be right ... it seems that my Motley gal is, actually, a Motley-Stripe (Motley phenotype but het for Stripe & Motley) and that those babies, who had me scratching my head, are Stripes. Several are about to have their second shed. Looking forward to it. I think I will be posting their photos as each one sheds. Really need to start thinking about parting with most of these young'uns.<sigh> |
Sorry for stealing your thread, I just have one question. What pattern is this?
