    Cervical dislocation problem

One of the two mice I fed my snake yesterday wouldn't let me pin its head down to perform cervical dislocation for the life of me and jumped up and bit my finger really hard. I gave up and gave it to my snake live and it bit my snake, hurting some of her scales. Two questions: 1. Will my snake...

My snake's head is tilted upward on the right side

Not exactly a corn, but a colubrid nevertheless. My cali king's head is _always_ tilted upwards. Neck injury? Some kind of disease? No stuck eye caps as far as I can tell. She eats fine and is active.

I can't maintain the suggested 24-30C daily temp, I can only do about 22-23. Should I

Worry? Neither of my three snakes (a corn, a yellow rat and a cali king) had any problems with this as far as I could tell.

How can I make a CO chamber to humanely kill mice?

I think it's even better than cervical dislocation so I would like to try it. Sorry if this has been answered before, I'm in a hurry and don't have the time to look through the pages.

Can we take a quick detour where I ask whether my new cali king is fat for his size?

The viv is 60 cm long, he is somewhere between 60-70. Can't give weight, but can give picture.

    Feeling sorry for mice

I have a 1 year old cornsnake and an adult yellow rat snake. The young one feeds on 1 small mice per week while the other eats 3 mice every 2 weeks. However, I began to feel sorry for rodents, especially for adult ones. They seem just so much more active and intelligent compared to my snakes. I...

Any tips for PROPER cervical dislocation?

So that the animal won't suffer for seconds after? (There are horrible YT videos out there.)

Is it normal for rat snakes to occasionally emit short hissing sounds?

It's an audible burst of air from the nostrils of my yellow rat snake, done seemingly randomly, about 2-3 times in 24 hours. It lasts no longer than a second.

My mice won't eat veggies (so no nutrients)

The title is self-explanatory. Any tips? :)

Should I switch to rats with my 1,5 meters yellow rat snake?

I don't feel like 2 mice per 2 weeks is enough. (I realize this isn't a rat snake forum, but this is the only snake forum I frequently visit and they're closely related anyways) You can find pictures in previous topics of mine. If I should switch, how many rats should I feed him?

Any ideas for a DIY water bottle type of thing?

My mice keep getting all the shavings into their water bowl so it dries up instantly. :( Any tips on how to make a better water holder? Thanks! :)

My Yellow Rat Snake had several bad sheds before at shop, a weird thing happened now

So I was picking him out of his enclousure and noticed that his eyes were blue. I put him in the bathtub and soaked him in warm water, then the blue eyecaps were gone... Then his eyes were only blue in a circle around the edges, which was the case when I bought him too (and I can't get it off...

Can I house my adult Yellow Rat Snake (150 cm) and Corn (60 cm) in the same viv?

The petshop owner said I can, but I'm not so sure. Better safe than sorry. The corn is very small and thin compared to the rat snake, but both of them are very docile, they never bite.

Some scales are wrinkled and white - injury or scale rot?

Bought the 4 years old california ratsnake today. He has a few wrinkled scales and some of them even has some kind of white skin where the scale should've extented to if it wasn't wrinkled. He was fed live prey and shows no sign of illness (very active). Does injury to the scales by live prey...

How to dry out substrate in winter? Details in the thread.

Hey guys, so I've just ordered a new vivarium for my corn two weeks ago and it's about time it gets here. So, I prepared the substrate. I use coconut husks that come in a solid brick I have to dissolve in hot water so it massively expands in its size. The problem is, it still remains full of...
